Dartmouth-based manufacturing company to increase productivity, capacity to capitalize on growth opportunities

March 13, 2019 – Dartmouth, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Implementing new technologies and improved processes to lower costs, enhance efficiency and hone competitive advantages makes good economic sense and creates highly skilled jobs. RKO Steel Limited is expanding its facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and incorporating advanced manufacturing technologies into its production line. This will help the company increase both productivity and capacity while creating up to 30 highly-skilled full-time positions.

RKO Steel Limited will incorporate Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) units at its expanded Thornhill Drive shop to better meet the needs of its clients and to take advantage of future growth opportunities. This project will also improve processes and increase efficiencies that will boost the company’s international competitiveness as well as the region’s economy.

Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth – Cole Harbour, announced federal support for this project on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

The Government of Canada is making smart investments that will create good, middle-class jobs in our country. It is helping small and medium-sized businesses to start-up, expand or modernize and supporting not-for-profit organizations to fuel business growth. Support for this project is one way the Government of Canada is working to achieve its Atlantic Growth Strategy outcome of long-term economic prosperity in the region.
